Natsumi is a Registered Psychologist. She has worked as a clinician in a variety of hospital, research, and private practice settings including the Psychology Department and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) Clinics at the Royal Victoria Hospital and the Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) Clinic and Youth Service at the Jewish General Hospital in Montreal and Simon Fraser University in Vancouver. She has training in CBT, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, and a number of mindfulness based therapies such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), and Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT). She has provided individual and group therapy to youth and adults experiencing a wide range of difficulties including mood, anxiety, substance use, eating, and personality disorders and OCD.
Natsumi has a particularly strong interest in the use of client and clinician mindfulness practices in therapy and has pursued training in mindfulness practices, such as meditation and yoga, as well as the integration of these practices into therapy. She has taught mindfulness and meditation to individuals and groups in clinical and professional settings for over 7 years and has consulted with mental health professionals on how to integrate mindfulness and yoga into their work with clients.
